In the beginning of 2018 we were contacted by Joanna.  

Joanna’s son Benji was deaf but unfortunately on this occasion the NHS could not fund his cochlear implants which would help him hear. Meaning the family therefore had to privately fund the £80,000 treatment. Which is why Joanne contacted us here at BLF.  

After just a few short weeks and one Tv appearance Benji had surpassed his target! Thanks to a well-known comedian posting about Benji’s campaign on his Facebook page, the kindness of a US businessman and not forgetting Benji’s local community, he had all the money needed and more! 

Not only has Benji been able to get his cochlear implants and speech therapies but the family were also able to donate £9000 of the surplus money raised to another campaign fundraising with us here at BLF, Ear for Alex who was fundraising for an ear reconstruction.  

Benji is now doing absolutely amazing, he has had his implants for over 5 years now and is loving life. 

This campaign is a true show of the kindness of strangers. We cannot thank each and every person who supported Benji’s fundraising enough.
